The first ever direct presidential election in Taiwan was held on March 23, 1996.
LSU TSA participated the worldwide event--Safeguard Taiwanese Democracy Candle Light Vigil Worldwide, co-initiated by Taiwanese Collegian--to safeguard the extremely important day in Taiwanese history and also to celebrate the coming new era of Taiwan independence.
